Raja Halder

Raja-Halder

Raja Halder was born in Calcutta and started playing the violin at the age of six . He studied at Chetham’s School of Music and Royal Academy of Music with Mateja Marinkovic and Tomotada Soh. His prizes include awards from Royal Overseas League, Audi Junior Music Competition and Royal Academy Of Music. As soloist he has toured UK, Europe and Asia highlights being Conbrio Festival (Mumbai), Ischia Festival, Anghiari Festival and MMCJ (Japan).


Raja was a member of The Vardanyan String Quartet with whom he performed throughout UK and Europe including, Barbican, Wigmore Hall, Conway Hall , Harmos Festival, International Chamber Music Festival Trondheim and Greenwich String Quartet Festival. As a keen chamber musician he has collaborated with Emma Johnston, Levon Chilingirian, Jack Liebeck, Leon Bosch, Melvyn Tan, Partricia Rozario, Alan Gilbert, Jennifer Gilbert, Richard Harwood and members of the Allegri Quartet.
